Direct Aid Society has got the excellence reward for caring orphans in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries “KAFEL” for the year 2014, awarded by the Regional Network for Social Responsibility in the Kingdom of Bahrain in cooperation with the Department of Humanitarian Sector at The Islamic Cooperation Organization, The Global Agreement Program of the United Nations and the International Academy for Social Responsibility as a recognition for its leadership and directive role in supporting programs, events and services held by the institutions working in field of caring the orphans.

Due to this occasion, a celebration was conducted at Manama, capital of Bahrain, as Dr. Abdullah Abdulrahman Al Sumait –General Manager of Direct Aid Society received the reward on behalf of Dr. Abdulrahman Saleh Al-Muhailan.

Such celebration was conducted on the sideline of the training forum which was held in the period from 28 to 29 of the past December. The training forum was held for the leaders and experts of orphanage in Gulf Cooperation Council countries in cooperation with the Department of Humanitarian Sector at The Islamic Cooperation Organization and The Global Agreement Program of the United Nations.

Beside the Direct Aid Society, the following institutions and societies have got the excellence reward for caring the orphans in the Gulf Cooperation Council “KAFEL” for the year 2014: The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarians from UAE, Qatar Charity Society from State of Qatar, The Charity Foundation for Caring Orphans (EKHAA) from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, The Oman Authority for Charity Works from Sultanate of Oman and Al-Sanabel Orphans Care Society from Kingdom of Bahrain.

Moreover, The Regional Network for Social Responsibility in the Kingdom of Bahrain has granted the reward of “The Responsible Social Institution in field of Caring Orphans for 2014” equally between The Royal Charity Institution and Al-Kawther Society for Caring Orphans in Kingdom of Bahrain.

On the sideline of the forum, training workshops were held in field of accomplishment of sustainability presented by experts in field of orphans care from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

It is noteworthy that the Direct Aid Society, under the management of its founder Dr. Abdulrahman Al Sumait – May Allah be merciful to him – was the first organization that allocates endowments for caring orphans since more than 30 years as the number of orphans who are cared by the society during this period reached more than 60 thousand orphans.

The Direct Aid Society’s experience in the field of caring orphans is distinguished with placing the orphans in specialized centers established by the society in more than 30 African Countries where the child enjoys the permanent stay along with providing the food, clothes and social, scientific and entertainment welfare in addition to the psychological habilitation.

Moreover, the Direct Aid Society’s orphans study in the society’s schools till the end of the elementary education stages as there are students thereof obtain scholarships for completing the university or postgraduate education. Within the last three decades, a huge number of these students have graduated and obtained important positions in their countries.
