Direct Aid congratulates its honorable daughter, Deeqa Mohamed Abdullah, a student at Fanole Secondary School, one of the association\u2019s schools in Kismayo, Somalia, for obtaining the first-place ranking in the Somali Secondary Certificate Examination for the academic year 2022\/2023, with a GPA of 92.86%, outperforming 32,000 students. She was honored with a certificate of excellence by Mr. Hamza Abdi Bare, the Prime Minister of Somalia, and Dr. Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir, the Minister of Education and Higher Education.<\/p>\n
Deeqa, born in 2004 in Kismayo, the capital of Jubaland state in southern Somalia, began her education by memorizing the Quran in Quranic schools (Kuttab) alongside regular schooling at Fanole School, which is affiliated with Direct Aid in Somalia. She completed all stages of general education (primary, middle, and secondary) at Fanole School. Deeqa comes from a very impoverished family and helps her mother with household chores and taking care of her younger siblings. Despite her responsibilities, she remains committed to attending school and religious circles where she learns Islamic sciences and Arabic, including Quran interpretation, Hadith, Islamic jurisprudence, and the Prophet’s biography. Direct Aid intends to grant Deeqa a full scholarship to study at one of its universities in Africa.<\/p>\n
It’s worth noting that Direct Aid owns and manages around 351 schools for all levels of general education (kindergarten, primary, middle, and secondary) in Africa and Yemen. These schools have educated over one and a half million students. Additionally, the organization owns four universities in Africa, located in Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Zanzibar, with plans to establish a fifth university in Benin.
