DirectAid executed 2,124 surgery for the needy in Senegal Eye Camp

Cataract disease is caused about 50% of the blindness and 33% of poor eyesight cases globally. It is more likely to occur with old age. In Africa, cataract disease records the highest number of cases in the world.

DirectAid continuously launches new eye care camps in many poor and remote areas in Africa, where recovering from such disease has a very positive impact on changing people’s lives. It changes them from people who are unable to work, to people can work and support their families and communities.

Fortunately, DirectAid recently launched an eye camp in Senegal that lasted for 12 days from 13 to 24 Oct. The medical team executed 2,124 cataract surgeries in partnership with the Eye of The World Team. The camp was supported by donations from the “29 Ramadan Campaign”. By the grace of Allah, the camp could change 2,124 people from a person who is unable to work to a person can work and support his family member.

Eye care camps in DirectAid include Eyes Examination – Clearing eyesight with medical glasses – Providing operations if needed – Providing an appropriate treatment for each case. This is through experienced medical staff in ophthalmology examinations and operations. Lastly DirectAid invites all its respected donors to keep their contributions so that we can evolve and increases eye care camps in many other poor and remote areas in Africa.
