Allocated projects for supporting women … DirectAid’s choice to celebrate International Women’s Day

During the occasion of International Women’s Day, the whole society begins to highlight women’s achievements and their positive impact on the society. In this context, Direct Aid chooses to take an action for empowering women economically, educationally and providing them distinguished healthcare services. This was through allocating the monthly DirectAid’s campaign called (10 x 10) which consists of 10 charitable doors to support women in poor and remote areas in Africa under the slogan quoted from the advice of the prophet (PBUH) “Act kindly towards women…” (…واستوصوا بالنساء خيرا)

Dr. Abdullah Abdulrahman Alsumait – General Director of DirectAid Society – explained that the campaign provided 10 different charitable doors to support women, including (vaccination campaigns for pregnant women and children – educational sponsorships for female students – spiritual awareness circles for women – a prayer room at the university for women – sewing machines for women – surgical camps for women – camps for combating breast cancer – supporting girls’ schools – economic empowerment for mothers of poor families – water wells).

Dr. Alsumait emphasizes that DirectAid pays more attention to projects which provide job opportunities for women in Africa, especially the development projects that empower women economically. In this context, DirectAid has been implemented about 3500 development projects since the Corona crisis hit the world at the beginning of 2020 until now “March-2021”. Such development projects include (grain milling and storage projects, cattle and poultry production projects, etc.) The benefits of these projects have reached to about 75,000 poor person, in addition to employing many girls and mothers of the poor families.

Dr. Alsumait has concluded that the role of AirectAid in empowering women does not end only by empowering them economically. But rather we provide many scholarships for female students and provide rehabilitation and awareness courses for women. Moreover, we provide many healthcare services for them through periodic healthcare programs including vaccination, surgical and health awareness camps. Finally, the general director encouraged the donors to pay more attention to the projects that serve women in order to get the reward of following the sunnah of the prophet PBUH when said in a Hadith narrated by (Abu Hurairah) “Act kindly towards women…” (…واستوصوا بالنساء خيرا).
