With the funding of Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, the office of Direct Aid in Yemen started to distribute 4,000 food baskets that support 28,000 people in need from the families in need, the elderly, and those with special needs. Thanks to 2018 Sanaa Relief Project.
Ma’ali Al Asousi, Direct Aid Office Head in Yemen, explains that the first project between the Yemen office and the Arab Fund, meets the food needs of citizens. Prices of foodstuff have increased in the local market to 35% and 100% in March in comparison to the prices before the crisis that the country is suffering from.
Nada Al Enezi, Project Organizer, adds that during June 2018 they will distribute 4,000 food baskets that could help 28,000 people in need.
She explains that the supply basket contains the basic food families need like rice, oil, dates, flour, sugar, milk powder, ground wheat. This is considered to be indeed helpful because it reduces the burden that families carry in these hard circumstances.
She also assures that Direct Aid will reach new families in desperate need, therefore there has been a cooperation with 17 local organizations to distribute food supply that will be supervised by Direct Aid.
Moreover, Al Asousi shows deep appreciation for this project is run by the cooperation of various parties with Kuwait’s Ministry of Planning and Development including: National Authority for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and Disasters, local authorities in the municipality of the capital and Office of Social Affairs and Work.
Fortunately stating, all these philanthropist groups initiate from the same starting point, Kuwait with their one leader, His Highness Amir Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah leading them in this journey of enormous giving.
In this journey, Direct Aid is focused to develop the less-fortunate communities in Africa and Yemen through tackling the ignorance, poverty and diseases aiming to reform a community of positively-contributing individuals.
