KUWAIT — June 2026: Direct Aid Society has announced the successful conclusion of its annual Hajj project for the 1447 AH / 2026 AD season. Supported by generous philanthropists, the initiative enabled 148 Muslims from across Africa to fulfill their lifelong dream of performing the Hajj pilgrimage, with total expenditures reaching approximately KWD 408,500.
Endowment Revenues Secure Lifetime Pilgrimage
The Society highlighted that out of this year’s total beneficiaries, 54 pilgrims were fully sponsored through the revenues of its dedicated “Hajj Endowment” (Waqf). This permanent endowment fund is designed to utilize its annual returns to cover all pilgrimage expenses for underprivileged Muslims living in remote African communities.
With the conclusion of this successful season, Direct Aid’s historical data reveals that a total of 2,261 pilgrims have been sponsored and dispatched since the inception of the Hajj Sponsorship Project.
To maximize the project’s grassroots impact, Direct Aid selected candidates based on rigorous criteria to ensure the support reached those who would benefit their communities most, including:
- Community Preachers & Educators: To deepen their Islamic knowledge, enabling them to return and teach their respective communities.
- Tribal Chiefs & Community Leaders: To strengthen their spiritual ties and deepen their connection with the wider Islamic world.
The Socio-Religious Impact of Hajj Sponsorship
The initiative’s significance extends far beyond helping individuals fulfill a religious pillar; it carries profound social and spiritual dimensions, most notably:
- Fulfilling Lifelong Dreams: Bringing immense joy to underprivileged Muslims by answering their spiritual longing to visit the Holy Mosque.
- Driving Community Development: Upon returning to their villages, these pilgrims—particularly the educators—utilize their renewed spiritual energy to raise awareness, guide community members, and foster values of solidarity and compassion.
- Fostering Global Solidarity: The project beautifully reflects the bond of brotherhood between donors in Kuwait and beneficiaries in Africa, demonstrating that the global Islamic community stands as one.
Direct Aid concluded its statement by expressing deep gratitude to all donors and endowment contributors who made this season possible. The Society prayed that Allah accepts the pilgrims’ Hajj and abundantly rewards everyone who helped facilitate this blessed journey for hearts that long resolved to visit the Holy House of Allah.
