Direct Aid Society recently convened its 26th Ordinary General Assembly for the 2025 fiscal year, with a strong 70%-member turnout. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor and external auditors, the assembly reviewed a landmark year of developmental breakthroughs across Africa and Yemen.

 

Dr. Al-Muhailan: Strategic Leaps in Community Empowerment

In his opening address, Chairman Dr. Abdulrahman Saleh Al-Muhailan highlighted the society’s tangible field impact. “We take immense pride in these qualitative leaps; our direct beneficiaries have now surpassed 13 million individuals across 31 countries,” he stated. Dr. Al-Muhailan noted that the society successfully executed 4,777 developmental projects, including the flagship “Village Revival” program, which empowered 649 African villages.

 

Key Sectoral Achievements:

  • Healthcare: 839 medical convoys conducted, resulting in 35,660 life-changing eye surgeries.
  • Education: Management of 311 schools serving 112,784 students, alongside three major African universities.
  • Social Welfare: Comprehensive care provided for 23,019 orphans.
  • Water Security: 580 water projects and artesian wells completed in Yemen, benefiting over 1.5 million people.

 

Unparalleled Financial Efficiency and Governance

 

Treasurer Mr. Fareed Saud Al-Fozan presented the 2025 financial report, announcing total revenues of KWD 49.1 million. Highlighting rigorous fiscal discipline, Al-Fozan revealed that 92.2% of total expenditure (KWD 42.4 million) was funneled directly into charitable projects and aid. He also noted a remarkable 63% growth in donations over the past decade, with endowment (Waqf) returns reaching KWD 7.59 million.

Reinforcing the society’s commitment to transparency, Director General Dr. Abdullah Abdulrahman Al-Sumait announced that Direct Aid achieved a near-perfect 99.13% overall governance score and a 100% rating in financial safety standards, solidifying trust among donors and regulatory bodies.

“Bunyan 2030”: A Vision for Sustainability

The General Assembly officially approved an ambitious estimated budget of KWD 74.1 million for 2026. This coincides with the launch of the 2026–2030 strategic plan, themed “Bunyan: Empowerment and Benevolence.” The strategy focuses on deepening sustainable impact and fostering self-sufficiency within targeted communities.
