The Epidemic control project in Al-Jazirah state in Sudan was launched on Sunday, September 24th, 2023 to reduce the consequences of the ongoing internal crises in the State of Sudan, in several states that include the states of Al-Jazirah, Sennar, the White Nile, and AlQadarif; the project will continue until December 2023, and is expected to benefit about (3) million beneficiary from this project.

Dr. Muhammad Al-Amin Abu Menga – The Acting Executive Director of the Patients Helping Fund Society in Kuwait stated that the project focuses on disease vector control, field clinics, environmental sanitations, water supply, community movement, promotion of health and the distribution of shelters, food baskets and Impregnated mosquito nets. Furthermore, Dr. Fadlallah Ibrahim, representative of the Direct Aid Association, their full interest in supporting health and development projects, pointing to the well-known Kuwaiti charities role in support to Sudan in all tribulations, achieving the slogan (Kuwait next to you). For his part, Mr. Asaad Al-Sir, Commissioner of Humanitarian Aid in the state, thanked the efforts of the Fund and the Direct Aid Association and their interventions in containing the health effects of the displaced in the shelters, adding that the intervention came at the right time. Dr. Osama Abdel Rahman, Minister of Health in the state, also praised the consistency of these projects with the ministry’s plan to confront health emergencies and their effects. Dr. Esmat Mustafa, representative of the Federal Minister of Health, drew attention to the efforts of the Kuwaiti Patients Helping Fund Society in various fields, and said that the Fund’s projects represent aid for the ill and healthy, thanking the Direct Aid Association for supporting this exceptional project.

Additionally, Mr. Ismail Awadallah Al-Aqeb, Governor of Al Jazirah State, expressed his happiness with the launch of the project at this time, pointing out that it represents comprehensive coverage in the preventive health, relief and health development aspects. This directly benefits the displaced in shelters and residents, he also and thanked the Kuwaiti government and people for their contributions in Sudan, and the Direct Aid Association and the Kuwaiti Patients Helping Fund Society  for their support to this project. The Governor witnessed the signing of the technical agreement for the implementation of the project in the State of Al Jazirah between the Ministry of Health and the Fund. The inauguration was attended by the Ministers of Youth, Sports and Social Development, directors of departments at the Ministry of Health, health and humanitarian partners, representatives of government agencies and a number of interested parties.
