DirectAid Implemented 200 surgeries at the first eye camp in Tunisia

In Africa, cataract disease records the highest number of cases in the world, and about 33 million people waiting for undergoing cataract surgery. In addition, about 19,000 children get injured with cataract in Africa annually.  So DirectAid continuously launches new eye care camps in many poor and remote areas in Africa, where recovering from such disease has a very positive impact on changing people life. It changes them from people are unable to work, to people are able to work and support their families and communities.

At the end Aug – 2021, Direct Aid implemented – by the grace of Allah – the first eye camp in poor areas in southern Tunisia at Tataouine city. The camp was conducted with the cooperation of the Ministry of Health and NADI AL BASSAR Foundation in Tunisia. During the camp 200 eye surgeries have been conducted, which helped 200 people who are in urgent need of critical surgeries. DirectAid also plans to continue launching eye camps in other poor and remote areas in Tunisia and many African countries.
