DirectAid sends urgent relief aircrafts for rescuing the drought-affected in north Kenya

The prophet PBUH said “.…If anyone fulfills his brother’s needs, Allah will fulfill his needs; if one relieves a Muslim of his troubles, Allah will relieve his troubles on the Day of Resurrection; and if anyone covers up a Muslim (his sins), Allah will cover him up (his sins) on the Resurrection Day”. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

The region of southern Somalia is witnessing a severe drought due to the lack of rain for the third season in a row. As result of that, damaging effects have happened on the livelihood of most of the population, which led to the displacement of huge numbers of people to northern Kenya. In this context, Mrs. Nusayba Abdulrahman Alsumait – Director of Marketing, Media and PR department at DirectAid Society – has confirmed that so far there are about 652,960 children under the age of five and 96,480 pregnant and lactating women suffering from severe malnutrition. Top of that, about 2.1 million people in Kenya, which around 14% of the population suffer from acute lack of food security.

Therefore, DirectAid Society immediately arranged several campaigns through sending urgent relief aircrafts to protect people from the crisis using the air bridge of the Kuwaiti Air Forces. The campaigns included 10,000 food baskets, 100 water truck and 2,000 therapeutic meals to overcome malnutrition quickly and effectively. At the same time, DirectAid plans long-term solutions, which include strategic solutions targeting the infrastructure, such as drilling deep wells, cultivating animal feed and preserving the environment for the purpose of sustainable development.

Mrs. Nusayba thanks all respected donors inside and outside the State of Kuwait for their significant role in our urgent relief campaigns. And she invites every single Muslim to share DirectAid’s campaigns among their families and friends so that everyone can easily participate in good deeds for the benefit of both donors and beneficiaries.
