Togo – Direct Aid
Dr. Issa Touré, a former orphan at Al-Farouq Center, operated by Direct Aid in Togo, has returned to the very place where he was raised — this time as a qualified medical doctor — to express his deep gratitude and give back to those who supported him in his early years.

“I chose the medical profession after realizing the scarcity of Muslim doctors in Togo,” said Dr. Touré. “I witnessed many people suffering due to limited access to proper healthcare. That’s what motivated me to treat those in need free of charge. The joy I feel when I bring comfort to someone is more rewarding than anything material.”

He added that his primary motivation for becoming a doctor was to seek reward from Allah (SWT), believing that medicine is a noble profession filled with opportunities to earn spiritual reward through sincere service and compassion.

Dr. Touré dreams of one day establishing a university hospital that offers a full range of medical specialties. Though he acknowledges the challenge, he firmly believes it is not impossible.

“One of the most emotional moments in my life was when I first entered Al-Farouq Center as an orphan,” he reflected. “I will never forget those who raised, supported, and cared for me. Today, I return as a doctor with a message of gratitude and a commitment to give back.”

Al-Farouq Center is one of Direct Aid’s key projects for orphan care in Togo. The center provides a nurturing environment focused on education, health, and personal development, empowering orphans to grow into productive and compassionate leaders in their communities.
