Al-Safwa Center, affiliated with Direct Aid in Rwanda, celebrated a moment of pride and joy with the harvest of its first vegetable crop—part of an educational and sustainable farming initiative launched last October.

The initiative aimed to teach orphaned children the value of hard work, self-reliance, and sustainability through hands-on agricultural experience. After months of care and dedication, the crops are now ready to be included in healthy meals served to the orphans at the center.

While the quality of the fresh vegetables was commendable, the true success lay in the joyful smiles of the children as they harvested the fruits of their labor—experiencing firsthand how hard work truly pays off.

The center’s management affirmed that this project aligns with Direct Aid’s vision to promote sustainability and self-empowerment within care institutions, by connecting educational activities with real-life skills that contribute to building confident, capable, and productive individuals.
