Direct Aid Society concluded the Ramadan season, which is filled with many charitable projects, which won the support of philanthropists from Kuwait, the Gulf countries and the world at large. The holy month began with a campaign of “2000 projects”, in which more than 53,000 donors participated, and we ask God that it will be a reason for the development of poor African societies.
At the top of these programs, and most notably in Ramadan every year is the Iftar program for the fasting person, which started with the beginning of the month of Sha’ban until the last week of Ramadan. Al-Aoun Society implemented the fasting Iftar directly in 29 countries, until a total of 2.8 million breakfasts were distributed, whether cooked or dry (rice, oil, flour, sugar, legumes) distributed to poor families. In addition to preparing mass breakfast tables in villages, centres and mosques.
Preparation for the fasting Iftar project began months before Ramadan when the association’s field offices selected the densest and poorest areas and determined the cost of the meal in each region where the project would be implemented.
The fasting breakfast project implemented by the Direct Aid Association is receiving increasing popularity from the generous audience of donors who put their trust in the association, due to its credibility, built over more than 38 years of continuous work and dedicated efforts of its founder, Dr Abdul Rahman Al-Sumait – may God have mercy on him – and his brothers are among those responsible for it, which pushes and motivates the association to increase the number of meals and expand the areas of implementation year after year.
Direct aid also continued – for the fifth year in a row – to revive the nights of the last ten days of Ramadan, with projects aimed at achieving the vision of direct aid by fighting ignorance, poverty and disease, so different projects were devoted every night, which people of goodness contributed to supporting, to be a cause in an easier and more dignified life for the human being In the less fortunate regions of Africa and Yemen.
The end of the tender was in this holy month, with the distribution of more than five hundred thousand kilos of food as Zakat al-Fitr to those who deserve it.
The association’s offices did not stop organizing awareness programs, Quran competitions for youth and children, and organizing Tarawih prayers and performing in the association’s mosques. Coinciding with the usual seasonal projects in Ramadan, which aim in its entirety to help the poor and needy, whose difficult financial conditions have transformed from enjoying the worship of fasting, and introducing joy and pleasure in their souls and notifying them of Islamic affection and brotherhood in the month of giving and generosity.
